RECORDER-December 1945-JERRY and SKY still have the nightly 6:30pm spot on
WHDH, Boston.
They do a great deal of entertaining at Veterans Hospitals and their glistening
beach wagon is getting to be a familiar sight in New
England. Jerry (Haworth) and Sky (Schuyler Snow) were both born in
Nashville, Tenn., and are called the Mountain Men From
The Middle of the Mountain. They have been on the air nine years, and are heard
by transcription in many sections of the country.

February 1947-The brothers Jerry and Sky spent six years roaming the country
picking up folk lore and folk tunes first hand, actually living with the people
who sing and live the lyrics. This background, plus extensive engagements in
theaters and radio stations coast-to-coast gives their renditions the flavour
fans demand.

frantic Ozark Mt. style, blending their voices in
righteous raspy fashion for an almost violent SPARKLING BLUE EYES. More
reserved is their singing for the slow ballad, TROUBLES IN MY HEART. The Melody
Men provide adequate string accompaniment. Hardly expected to hold up in music
machines.

NB: Some titles were Hank Williams songs. According to Jerry
Howarth, at the time Hank Williams, death, none of these titles had been
issued, and Decca decided not to release them. Jerry believes that it may have
been because of the uncertainty concern the Hank Williams estate, ownership of
his music, etc. He thinks Decca did not want to get embroiled in any legal
entanglements, so they just scrapped the whole session.
